    NEET Biology Syllabus 2024: NEET, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, is a competitive medical entrance exam conducted in India for a career in medicine. Since biology is the highest-scoring subject in NEET, the subject dominates, with almost half the number of questions being asked in biology alone. The National Medical Commission (NMC) recently released the NEET 2024 syllabus on its official website, nmc.org.in. The NEET 2024 syllabus pdf by NTA is available here.

    UNIT I: Diversity in Living World What is living; Biodiversity;Concept of species and taxonomical hierarchy; Need for classification; Taxonomy & Systematics; Binomial nomenclature;
    Five kingdom classification; Protista and Fungi into major groups; Lichens; Viruses and Viroids, salient features and classification of Monera;
    Salient features and classification of plants into major groups-Algae, Bryophytes, Pteridophytes, andteridophytes, (three to five distinguishing and salient features and minimumt two examples of each category)
    Salient features and classification of chordate up to classes level and animals-nonchordate up to phyla level (three to five salient features and minimum two examples).
    UNIT II Structural Organisation in Animals and Plants Tissues; Morphology and modifications; Anatomy and functions of different parts of flowering plants: stem, root, leaf, inflorescence- cymose and recemose, flower, fruit and seed (To be dealt along with the relevant practical of the Practical Syllabus) Family (malvaceae, Cruciferae, leguminoceae, graminae, compositae,).
    Morphology, Animal tissues; anatomy and functions of different systems (digestive,respiratory, circulatory, nervous and reproductive) of an insect (Frog). (Brief account only)
    UNIT III: Cell Structure and Function Cell theory and cell as the basic unit of life; Structure of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell; Plant cell and animal cell; Cell envelope, cell membrane, cell wall; Cell organelles-structure and function; Endomembrane system-endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi bodies,vacuoles; mitochondria, lysosomes, ribosomes, micro bodies; plastids, Cytoskeleton, cilia, flagella, centrioles (ultrastructure and function); Nucleus-nuclear membrane, chromatin, nucleolus.
    Chemical constituents of living cells: Biomolecules-structure and function of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, nucleic acids; Enzymes-types, properties, enzyme action, classification and nomenclature of anzymes.
    B Cell division: Cell cycle, meiosis, mitosis, and their significance.
    UNIT IV Plant Physiology Photosynthesis: Photosynthesis as a means of Autotrophic nutrition; Site of photosynthesis take place; pigments involved in Photosynthesis (Elementary idea); Cyclic and non cyclic and photophosphorylation; Photochemical and biosynthetic phases of photosynthesis; Photorespiration C3 and C4 pathways; Chemiosmotic hypothesis; Factors affecting photosynthesis.
    Respiration: Exchange gases; Cellular respiration-glycolysis, fermentation (anaerobic), Energy relations-Number of ATP molecules generated;TCA cycle and electron transport system (aerobic); Amphibolic pathways; Respiratory quotient.
