    Solution:

During the colonial period, the forests were classified into 3; reserved, protected, and village forests. The Indian Forest Act of 1865 gave the legal status to classify the forest. It was amended twice, in 1878 and also in 1927. The best forest was called a reserved forest, into which villagers could not enter and take anything from the forest; they were allowed to take wood from the protected or village forest, not from the reserved forest.
