      7. Congruence of Triangles

      Facts

      • Congruent refers to two line segments that are of equal length.
      • Congruent angles are those in which the measurements of two angles are equivalent.
      • If the three sides of one triangle are equal to the three equivalent sides of the other, the two triangles are congruent. The SSS congruence criteria are the name of this rule.
      • In one triangle, two angles and the side that connects them are equivalent to the corresponding two angles and the included side of another triangle. The ASA congruence criteria are the name of this rule.
      • Two triangles are congruent if one of the triangles’ two angles and the included angle between them are equal to the other triangle’s corresponding sides and included angle. The SAS congruence criteria are the name of this rule.
      • Two right-angled triangles are congruent if one of their hypotenuses and one of their legs are equal to the other’s hypotenuse and corresponding leg. The RHS congruence criteria are the name of this rule.

       

      Angles: Some Facts

      • Vertically opposing angles are equal.
      • A linear pair is formed when the total of two neighboring angles equals [Equation]
        • When a transversal intersects two parallel lines, alternative angles are equal, and corresponding angles are equal
