Gonads – Introduction: Gonads are the organs in the body that produce sex cells, or gametes. The male gonads are the testes, and the female gonads are the ovaries. The gonads are responsible for the production of sperm and eggs, which fuse together to create a new organism. The gonads also produce sex hormones, which influence the development of the reproductive system and other organs in the body.

It is produced in the ovaries and is responsible for the development of the female reproductive system, including the uterus and vagina, and the production of eggs. It also promotes the growth of breast tissue and the development of sexual characteristics during puberty.
• Male and female gonad hormones are responsible for the development and function of the reproductive organs. The male hormones, testosterone and androgen, are responsible for the development of the male reproductive organs. The female hormones, estrogen and progesterone, are responsible for the development of the female reproductive organs.
