What is Mineral Nutrition?
Mineral nutrition is the process that allows an organism to take in minerals from their environment and use them to maintain vital physiological processes. Mineral nutrients include carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and sulfur. In order to be used by the body, minerals must be dissolved in water. The body obtains minerals from food, water, and air.
