JEE Main and NEET 2022: Exams expected to be delayed by a month

JEE and NEET 2022 exams to be postponed

We have almost reached the end of January in the new year, 2022. While students, parents, and educational institutions wait for the JEE 2022 and NEET 2022 notification, news has recently surfaced stating that the exams are likely to get delayed. They might get postponed from February to March. Experts have stated that ongoing circumstance like the prevalence of the pandemic has made them suggest a delay in the exams. The exam dates and schedules are yet to be confirmed.

You can expect the information related to JEE Main 2022 and NEET 2022 Registration dates, exam dates, and schedule on jeemain.nta.nic.in and neet.nta.nic.in respectively. The JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Main 2022 and NEET 2022 (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) are both conducted by the National Testing Agency, NTA. A delay in the exams has not been the first time. Last year, in 2021, both JEE and NEET exams were delayed. This year, you can expect the JEE Main 2022 sessions to be conducted in March, April, May, and June. The NTA will soon announce the exam dates.

Coming to the NEET exam, there is no official report as to when the exam will be conducted. However, the news or speculations making rounds on the internet is that NTA was considering conducting the NEET 2022 on May 2, 2022. Another claim from the same report is the NEET 2022 registration, which is likely to begin from February 1, 2022.

So far, there is no confirmation on both of these reports yet. Officials at the Education Ministry as well as NTA did not confirm any of the reports. The officials have ruled them as speculations and asked all the people to wait for any information that will be released on the official websites of JEE and NEET.

If we consider the delay in the competitive exams, there are two reasons that experts have cited. While the first is the third wave that India is currently facing, the second is the upcoming Assembly Elections in 5 states. With the elections scheduled to be held in February and the first week of March, the possibility is that exams will be conducted in the second or third week of March 2022. However, this might clash with the CBSE board exams, as few state boards had already released their exam schedule.

If at all, the NTA decides to conduct the exams in March, it is going to be a packed-up schedule for the students. It would not be convenient for them, too. One will have to wait for the official report that NTA releases to clear all this ambiguity.

Talking about NEET 2022, experts opined that scheduling an exam date before June is likely not possible. The reason is that JEE Main is conducted first, followed by NEET. Possibilities are that the NEET exam may not be conducted in May but by end of June or early July.

While there is no official update or confirmation of exam dates, students are advised to keep checking the websites on jeemain.nta.nic.in and neet.nta.nic.in for the latest updates. Moreover, there are hints from the sources on mandatory vaccination for aspirants. It is advisable and also a request for all students who are eligible for vaccination to get vaccinated at the earliest.
