As per the JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2024, ranking among the top 2,50,000 JEE Main qualified candidates is essential to be eligible. Candidates who meet these conditions can participate in the IIT JEE Advanced exam 2024. Eligible candidates must complete the JEE Advanced registration process. The exam is scheduled to be conducted by the authority on May 26.

    JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2024

The JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2024 delineate the fundamental requirements for candidates seeking to participate in the Joint Entrance Examination. To qualify for the exam, candidates must adhere to specific conditions. Firstly, they must hold Indian nationality, although foreign candidates under 10% of SNQ are also eligible. Additionally, candidates must meet age requirements, being born after October 1, 1999, unless they belong to SC, ST, or PwD categories, in which case they receive extended age relaxation, necessitating birth after October 1, 1994.

Educational qualifications demand that candidates have passed the Class XII examination in either 2023 or 2024, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Furthermore, candidates are allowed a maximum of two attempts within two consecutive years. Lastly, candidates must clear the JEE Main 2024 examination and rank among the top 2.5 lakhs to qualify for JEE Advanced 2024. These criteria serve as the cornerstone for determining the eligibility of candidates for the esteemed entrance examination.

Relaxation in JEE Advanced Eligibility Criterion 2024

Candidates who completed the JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2024 but were absent for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 are still eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2024 without needing to fulfill eligibility criteria 1 to 4 as mentioned above. However, they are required to successfully register for JEE Advanced through the online registration portal and submit the registration fee to validate their participation in the exam.

JEE Advanced 2024 Eligibility Criteria As Per Earlier Admissions at IITs

Candidates previously admitted to an IIT through JoSAA 2023, regardless of whether they continued in the program or not, are ineligible for JEE Advanced. Similarly, candidates who accepted an IIT seat by reporting at a reporting center in the past are also ineligible. Additionally, candidates whose admissions to IITs were cancelled after joining are not eligible for JEE Advanced 2024.

However, candidates admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2023 will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2024.

Candidates who paid the seat acceptance fee in JoSAA 2023 will also be eligible for JEE Advanced 2024 under the following conditions:

    • If the candidates did not report at any reporting centers.
    • If they withdrew before the last round of seat allotment.
    • If their seat was cancelled (for any reason) before the final round of seat allotment.

Eligibility Criteria for Cutoff of JEE Advanced 2024

The category-wise cutoff marks of JEE Advanced for the top 20 percentile are determined based on the scores achieved by candidates who pass their respective board examinations in the given year. For PwD candidates, the cutoff marks are set to be the same as the lowest of the cutoff marks for other categories.

The top 20 percentile cutoff for the academic year 2024 is applicable to candidates who have passed the 12th standard (or equivalent) examination in the same year. Similarly, candidates who cleared the exam in the academic year 2023 will be considered based on the cutoff marks of that year.

Candidates appearing for the qualifying exam for the first time in 2023 and aiming to qualify for the top 20 percentile cutoff in 2024 must retake all subjects. Their eligibility will be based on the top 20 percentile cutoff of 2023.

In instances where a Board does not provide information about the top 20 percentile cutoff, candidates must obtain a certificate from the respective board confirming that they fall within the top 20 percentile of successful candidates.

Note: The cutoff marks are subject to change based on the respective board’s policies and regulations.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria III (Number Of Attempts)

Candidates are allowed to appear for the JEE Advanced exam a maximum of 2 times within 2 consecutive years. Candidates can attempt the exam in two successive years to improve their scores or eligibility. However, after exhausting these two attempts, candidates cannot take the exam again.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria II (Age Limit)

To be eligible for the JEE Advanced Exam 2024, candidates must have been born after October 1, 1999. However, candidates from the SC, ST, and PwD categories are granted a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit. This means that SC, ST, and PwD candidates can be born after October 1, 1994, and still be eligible for the exam.
