    Solution:

Majoritarianism in Sri Lanka led to clashes between the different community groups in the country. The Sri Lankan Tamils' sense of alienation grew with time due to a series of majoritarian government actions. In their opinion, none of the major political parties headed by Buddhist Sinhala politicians showed any sensitivity toward their language and culture as they sought to establish Sinhala dominance. Tamil was disregarded in 1956 when an act to recognize Sinhala as the only official language was introduced. It implemented preferential appointments of Sinhala candidates for academic and government positions. It also mandated that the state protect and promote Buddhism. Relationships between the Sinhala and Tamil communities deteriorated, quickly escalating into a civil war.
