Given equations are,

2 x + y = - 2, 3 x - y = 7

.
From the first equation we have,

y = - 2 x - 2

… (1)
Put this value of y in the second equation.

3 x - (- 2 x - 2) = 7

⇒

5 x + 2 = 7

⇒

x = 1

⇒

y = - 2 x - 2

⇒

y = - 2 (1) - 2

⇒

y = - 4

Put this value of

y

in (1),
⇒

- 4 = - 2 x - 2

⇒

x = 1

Therefore,

x = 1

and

y = - 4

.
Hence, the correct option is 1.
