    Solution:

    An electric refrigerator rated 400 W operates for 8 hours per day. The cost of the energy to operate it for 30 days at Rs.3.00 per kWh will be Rs. 288.
    It is given that the electric power of the refrigerator = 400 Watt,
    The time for which it is used on a daily basis = 8 hrs,
    The number of days for which it operates = 30 days.
    Thus, from the formula of electric energy consumed,
        Energy = Power × time × days
    Energy= 400 × 8 × 30
    Energy= 96000 Wh
    Hence, the total energy consumed after 30 days is 96 kWh.
    It is given, cost per kWh is Rs.3.00,
    Therefore, the total cost after 30 days will be = 96 × 3
                                                                              = Rs.288
