Changes in WBCHSE Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2025
Before starting their exam preparation, students should first review and understand the complete WB HS exam pattern for 2025. It’s also important to download the West Bengal 12th syllabus and align their studies accordingly.
Subjects Discontinued: Due to low registration numbers, several subjects like Punjabi, Gujarati, and French have been removed from the WB HS syllabus. However, new vocational subjects have been introduced, including Banking, Financial Services & Insurance, Food Processing, and Telecom. Additional subjects like Applied Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Science of Well-being have also been added.
Changes in Marking Scheme: The West Bengal Board has updated the marking structure for some subjects. For Health and Family Education, the theory portion has increased from 40 to 70 marks, with practicals now making up 30% of the total. For Music and Visual Arts, both theory and practical exams will each carry 50 marks.
Subject Name and Code Changes: The Board has made changes to subject names and their codes. “Home Management and Family Resource” (HMFR) is now “Human Development and Resource Management” (HDRM). The subject “Agronomy” (AGNM) is now called “Agriculture” (AGRI), and the code for “Health and Physical Education” (PHED) has been updated to HPED.
