Everyday, we go to the grocery store and purchase food that already processed. We never think about how that food got to be in the state that it is currently in. In this essay, I will be discussing the food processing of wheat, cheese, and milk. I will also be discussing the differences of processing these items in the United States and in a foreign country.

    • Wheat is a cereal grain that ground into flour. The first step in processing wheat is to clean it. The wheat cleaned by separating the chaff from the kernels. The chaff is the inedible parts of the wheat, such as the husk. The wheat kernels then ground into flour. The flour can used to make bread, pasta, cereal, and many other foods.
    • Cheese is a dairy product made from milk. It formed with curdling milk and then separating the curds from the whey. The curds then pressed into a solid block. Cheese can made from cow’s milk, goat’s milk, or sheep’s milk.
    • Milk is a dairy product made from the milk of cows, goats, or sheep. It is a white liquid that contains nutrients that are essential for the human body. Milk can consumed as a beverage or used to make other dairy products, such as cheese, butter, and yogurt.
    • The United States has strict regulations on food processing. The food must be safe for human consumption and must meet certain standards. The food must also labeled correctly. In the United States, all food must be processed in a facility that is inspected by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
    • In a foreign country, the regulations on food processing may be different. The food may not be safe for human consumption. It may not meet the same standards as in the United States. The food may not labeled correctly. In a foreign country, the food may processed in a facility not inspected by the USDA.
