    History of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.

    The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is an Indian nuclear research centre based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was founded in 1954 by Homi J. Bhabha.

    The centre was established on 29 August 1954, with Dr. Homi J. Bhabha as its first director. Dr. Bhabha founded the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in 1945. The centre was initially called the Atomic Energy Establishment, Trombay (AEET), and later renamed the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in honor of its founder.

    The center’s primary mission was to develop India’s nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. However, India’s nuclear weapons program was also designed at the centre.

    The centre has also been involved in research in other areas of science, including particle physics, nuclear medicine, and biochemistry.
