ICSE Exam Pattern for Class 10

ICSE Class 10 exam is divided into three groups of subjects.

• In Group 1, all subjects are compulsory, which means every student has to study them.
• In Group 2, students can choose any two subjects from the list given by the board.
• In Group 3, students can pick one subject of their choice.

The exam marks are shared between school tests (internal) and board exams (external).

• For Group 1 and Group 2 subjects, 80% of the marks come from the external board exams, and 20% come from internal school tests.
• For Group 3 subjects, 50% of the marks come from external exams and 50% from internal tests.

To pass the ICSE exam, students need to score at least 33% in each subject. For ISC Class 12 students, the passing mark is 35%.From the year 2021, the ICSE board added new subjects to the curriculum to give students more choices and help them learn better.

In Group I of the ICSE Class 10 subjects, students must study History, Civics, and Geography.

CISCE Board Compartmental Exam

CISCE Board conducts compartment exams for both ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) students. This exam is for students who could not pass one subject in the main board exams. Students can appear for only one compartment exam in a year.

• These exams are usually held in the month of July.
• The results are announced in August.

So, if a student doesn’t pass one subject, they still get another chance to clear it the same year through the compartment exam.

CISCE Board Date Sheet

Students of Class 10 and Class 12 under the CISCE Board wait for the CISCE date sheet every year. The date sheet is like a calendar that shows the full exam timetable and important instructions. For the academic year 2019–20:

• The ICSE Class 10 exams started on 22nd February 2020.
• The ISC Class 12 exams started on 3rd February 2020.

But due to the spread of Coronavirus, only a few exams were held. The remaining exams were cancelled for the safety of students.

CISCE Board Result

CISCE Board announces the results for both Class 10 (ICSE) and Class 12 (ISC) students. The results are shared online on the board’s official website at cisce.org. For the year 2020, the ICSE and ISC results were declared on July 10 at 3 PM.

In the 2018–19 academic year, about 86,713 students registered for the ISC Class 12 exam, and 96.52% of them passed and qualified for higher education. This was an improvement from the previous year. For the ICSE Class 10 exam, 98.54% of students passed and were eligible to continue their studies.
