    DAVV Full Form

    DAAV Full Form is Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya. It was formerly known as the University of Indore. It is a state university located in Indore, India. Presently, the university is named after Ahilya Bai Holkar. Ahilya Bai Holkar belonged to the Holkar dynasty and lived in the 18th century. She was the daughter-in-law of Malhar Rao Holkar, a prominent leader of that time.

    DAVV History

    Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya was established in 1964 by the Madhya Pradesh government. It was earlier known as the University of Indore and came into effect after the Madhya Pradesh Legislature Act. Dr. Zakir Hussain, who was then Vice President of India, inaugurated the university.

    However, the officials renamed the university after Holkar Maharani Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar of the Maratha Empire in 1982. Later, Vishwavidyalaya was added to its name of the university.

    Campus of DAVV

    The administrative offices and main school campus of DAVV are located in Rabindranath Tagore Marg in Indore. The university directly manages the Takshashila Campus, which is located at 139, Khandwa Road, Indra Puri Colony, Indore. The campus looks after all schools across its three main campuses. It also manages more than 300 affiliated colleges across the Indore division.

    These affiliated colleges offer UG and PG courses along with professional courses. Presently, 9,000 students study on the university campus, while over 300,000 students are enrolled in its affiliated colleges.

    The university is spread across a total area of 760 acres. Takshashila Parisar is situated on 510 acres where all academic activities. Avanti Parisar spans 154 acres and Nalanda Parisar, which occupies 100 acres, handles administrative and official tasks.
