Objective
:
To evaluate the feasibility of the use of 3D printing technology for the fabrication of patient-specific models of the skull
Design:
A prospective study was conducted to evaluate the feasibility of using 3D printing technology for the fabrication of patient-specific models of the skull. A total of 5 patients with skull deformities were enrolled in the study. 3D printing technology was used to fabricate patient-specific models of the skull based on medical images of the patients. The accuracy of the models was evaluated by comparing them with medical images of the patients.
Results:
The models fabricated using 3D printing technology were accurate in terms of shape and size. There was a good correlation between the models and the medical images of the patients.
Conclusions:
3D printing technology can be used for the fabrication of patient-specific models of the skull. These models can be used for preoperative planning and for the evaluation of skull deformities.
