NEET Lighter Syllabus 2024
The NEET UG 2024 syllabus has been updated. Previously, the NMC (National Medical Commission) shared the syllabus on their official website at nmc.org.in. The syllabus was determined by the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the NMC.
According to reports, NTA Director General Subodh Kumar Singh mentioned, ‘NTA will reveal the NEET UG 2024 Syllabus next week to aid students in their preparations. The syllabus will be simplified, providing students with more than six months to prepare for the entrance test.‘
The NEET UG 2024 exam is scheduled for May 5, as per the announced dates. NEET is the sole entrance exam in the country for admission to undergraduate medical programs such as MBBS and BDS. In 2023, there were more than 20.87 lakh registrations for the exam.
The NEET Exam, which is the gateway to medical courses, will have a total of 720 marks. Out of these, 360 marks will be allocated to biology, 180 to physics, and 180 to chemistry. The NTA typically organizes the NEET exam and provides the syllabus each year. However, for NEET 2024, the NMC has officially confirmed the syllabus.
Key changes in the syllabus include the removal of several chapters in chemistry, such as State of Matter, Hydrogen, The Solid State, The s-Block Elements, Surface Chemistry, Polymers, General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Elements, Environmental Chemistry, and Chemistry in Everyday Life.
In biology, the NMC has excluded chapters like Mineral Nutrition, Strategies for Enhancement in Food Production, Digestion and Absorption, Transport in Plants, Reproduction in Organisms, and Environmental Issues. Additionally, the NMC has introduced five new sub-topics in physics and biology.
