An experiment is a scientific procedure in which one or more factors (variables) are manipulated in order to determine their effect on a particular outcome. The outcome is usually measured, and the results are then analyzed in order to determine the significance of the factors.

In order to do this, the experiment must be designed in a way that allows for the accurate determination of the effect of the variables.

    3. A researcher wants to test the effects of a new drug on anxiety levels. The researcher creates a case-control study in which participants with high anxiety levels are given the new drug and participants with low anxiety levels are given a placebo.

    The Various Types of the Experiment Research Design

    There are many different types of research design, but they can generally be divided into two categories: experimental and non-experimental.

    Experimental research design is when the researcher intervenes in some way to manipulate the independent variable and then observes the effect on the dependent variable. This type of research is considered to be the most reliable because it allows the researcher to control for all other variables that could be affecting the outcome.

    Non-experimental research design is when the researcher observes what happens naturally without intervening in any way. This type of research is less reliable because it is not possible to control for other variables that could be affecting the outcome.
